If you are curious. I have made some drawing in the past couple years, but it has really taken a back seat since photography came into the picture. At the same time, I felt like I was reaching the limit of technical skill and needed a different approach to how I looked at and practiced art. I could have either focused on painting or photography. As fate would have it, photography just felt prefect!
If you have commissioned a drawing from me in the past, you might see it here! I am very proud of the work I do, even when I was younger. These are all hand made, one of a kind art pieces. I drew inspiration from many different sources over the many years and I have to thank hundreds, thousands…. truly a countless multitude of people who influenced, inspired, and supported me through out my years. Please enjoy.
FAQ—
Do you still draw? The last drawing I made was in 2020 as a lockdown project, but I practice drawing as a utilitarian skill rather than a passion.
How long does a drawing take? This can vary due to the size, complexity and detail that goes into the drawing, but I can work on a drawing for about 30 hours on the low end and 100 hours on the high end. Taking from 1 month to 6 months.
Can I learn how to draw? Yes! Anyone can learn how to draw like this.
Can you teach me how to draw? Yes I could.
What pencils do you use? I found I liked Derwent or Tombow drawing pencils the most. I usually would only use 5 or 6 to get full tone. 9h, 6h, 2h, 2b, 6b, and 9b.
How do you sharpen your pencils? I use a technique my old drawing master showed me. That is with a razor blade and some sand paper.
What other tools do you use? A plastic eraser, kneaded eraser, a couple blending blending stumps, a strait edge, and a box to carry all your supplies in.
What paper do you use? I really like Strathmore Bristol board or Arche’s hot press paper. Anything with a fine to medium tooth is what I like.
Do you use a guide to trace the outline? In a way yes, I always used a method of grids to outline the general shape of the figure.
How do you get such great tone? Patience, practice, and persistence.
